It all began with Peter Blackman

Our founder, Peter Blackman, built a reputation for himself as one of the Caribbean’s most trusted finance professionals, serving the high net worth community through financial advisory roles in some of the region's largest institutions. 
2000

Blackman moves to Panama

In the early 2000’s Blackman married the love of his life Francisca, a proud Panamanian, together they moved to Panama.
2002

York Investment Management is founded in 2002

Once settled into his new life in Panama, Blackman founded York Investment Management, an independent advisory firm serving the Caribbean’s high net worth community.
2011

Blackman sells the firm

In 2011, Peter Blackman was diagnosed with cancer, knowing his time was limited, he bravely set about finding a successor who he knew would not only keep his legacy alive, but bring the same level of service, and confidence to his clients that he did.

Peter Melhado acquires York

Peter Melhado, a seasoned Jamaican businessman with a proven track record in the financial services industry, and a familiar face to most of Peter Blackman’s clients, acquires York Investment Management. Peter now set out to find a leader that would not only please York’s existing clients, but push York to the next level.
2012 - Present

Matthew Wright joins the firm as CEO

Shortly after the acquisition, Matthew Wright joined the firm as CEO. Wright brought with him an unmatched reputation in the finance industry both in the Caribbean and the United States.  

Under Wright's leadership, York has expanded significantly over the years while still maintaining the same high-end, high-touch experience that York was built on.

It all began with Peter Blackman

York Investment Management was founded by Peter Blackman. Blackman, a Trinidadian native, was one of the Caribbean’s most trusted finance professionals, serving the high net worth community through financial advisory roles in some of the region's largest institutions.

Blackman in Cayman

Prior to founding York, Mr. Blackman served as the general manager of Dextra Bank in the Cayman Islands, now known as the Republic Bank of Trinidad.

Blackman moves to Panama

While working with Dextra Bank in Cayman, Mr. Blackman met his soon to be wife, Francisca. The two got married and decided to start a family in Fransica’s home country, Panama, so together they made the move.

Blackman founded York Investment Management

In 2002, Shortly after arriving in Panama, Mr. Blackman founded York Investment Management, one of Panama’s first regulated financial intermediary companies.

Matthew Wright joins the firm as CEO

Shortly after the acquisition, Matthew Wright joined the firm as CEO. Wright brought with him an unmatched reputation in the financial industry both in the Caribbean and the United States. Under Matthew’s leadership, York managed to retain almost all of Mr. Blackman’s clients, while expanding the firm's reach tremendously, all while maintaining the same high-end, high-touch experience that York was built on.

Mr. Matthew Wright has over 23 years’ experience in investment management, corporate finance, credit risk management and real estate investment. He is a former Vice-President in the Infrastructure and Energy Finance Group of Citibank Global Capital Markets in New York, with responsibility for providing financial advisory and debt arrangement services to major infrastructure projects in North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Mr. Wright has also served as Assistant Vice-President for Capital Markets in the Emerging Market Corporate Bank for Citibank Jamaica. As a former Cambridge Commonwealth Scholar, he holds a Master of Philosophy in Environment and Development from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, a Master of Arts Degree in International Development Policy from Stanford University, California, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Williams College, Massachusetts. He also serves as an external Director and Deputy Chairman of the Victoria Mutual Group of companies.

Marisin Luque Siu is our Chief Compliance Officer. Marisin joined the firm in 2003 as a founding employee. She acts as the liaison between York Investment Management and the Superintendency of Securities Markets of Panama (SMV). Marisin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from The Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama. Marisin holds the Principal Executive and Analyst license from SMV. Additionally, she holds the ACAMS (certificates AMLFT, FADM, ACFCS certificates AML, FT, FADM, and is a member of The Association of Compliance Officers of Panama.

Ayleen Arana is the main liaison between our clients and custodial banks, responsible for guiding clients through onboarding, account maintenance and the management of all incoming and outgoing transfers. She is a graduate of Lindenwood University in Missouri and holds an analyst license from the SMV.

Zuely Moreira serves as the executive assistant to our CEO, Matthew Wright. Zuely is responsible for administrative matters within the firm.

Karol Bryan is our assistant compliance officer. She is a licensed attorney in Panama with over 8 years of experience in the legal environment. Karol holds a degree in law and political sciences from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua as well as a master’s degree in commercial law and labor law from Universidad Interamericana de Panama.

Toby Cooke is our business development officer. She is responsible for creating and maintaining new client relationships. Toby holds a degree in communications and business law from the University of Miami.

Arthur Williams is a portfolio manager, helping lead investment strategy and research, and the active management of client portfolios. Arthur has previously held roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Jamaica and NCB Capital Markets in the Cayman Islands. Arthur holds a bachelor's degree from Hamilton College in New York, finance certifications from Harvard Business School and Corporate Finance Institute, and he is a Level II candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. Arthur also holds an analyst license from the SMV.

Timar Jackson leads the execution of value-added financial solutions for York’s corporate and family office clients, complementary to our core asset management services. His responsibilities cover capital market transaction structuring, asset divestitures, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and rationalizing asset allocation and ownership structures to manage risk, meet liquidity requirements, and facilitate inter-generational wealth transfers and related client needs. Before joining York, Timar was the Assistant Vice President responsible for originating and structuring corporate capital markets solutions at one of the Caribbean's largest investment banks. He has experience advising and leading the successful execution of deals of varying sizes and complexity in the regional private and public debt and equity capital markets. Timar is a CFA Charterholder and holds a BSc. in Actuarial Science (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies, Mona, an MSc. in Applied Statistics, and an MBA in Finance, Strategy, and Operations, both from the University of Oxford, where he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. Timar also holds an analyst license from the SMV.
